Library: mapNinja

Here’s another new mapping option for your iPhone project — a commercial library called mapNinja, and it looks nicely comprehensive:

With mapNinja, developers can:

Add beautiful, panning, zooming, touch-enabled maps into their native iPhone apps with just 3 lines of code.  Your app stays open, your users stay engaged, and you remain in control of the experience.

Easily add markers and overlays on to the map, including:

Images, like pushpins, bubbles, and icons

Vector drawings, like circles, lines, and polygons

Text annotations, like descriptions of items on the map

Integrate the use of touch events as users interact with the items you put on the map.

Use the mapNinja caching system to optimize the user experience, including the ability to offer maps even with no internet connection!

Pick from 4 supported map providers and over 10 different map styles using the out-of-box map connectors.

Write your own map connector to your own (or another 3rd party) map tile server.

Ad supported (free to developers) or royalty free license options available.  Contact sales@useful-networks.com for more info.

One of these days we’ll get around to doing a real comparison of these various options for this nifty location-based game we have in mind, we swear, but somehow there just don’t seem to be enough hours in the day…
