So Vancouver finally has an Apple Store of our very own in Pacific Centre and of course we headed down to this morning’s grand opening — since it’s only four blocks away and all — and took some pictures for you!
When we got there at 8, there was already a good lineup inside, naturally:
and in short order it had extended out of the mall and onto Granville St.:
and then around the corner and onto Georgia St.:
At least there were staffers, and cute ones at that, to keep people company for their wait. The redhead on the left is Kim. She’s particularly nice!
The noise level went through the roof promptly at 10, and as we got to the entrance we could see that all the employees were lined up laughing and clapping behind the shirt-hander-outers,
and we mean here they were INTENSELY laughing and clapping,
as we walked through the guantlet of being high-fived by the whole pack of them!
Apparently there’s a pecking order based on shirt colour here, because all the orange shirts were at the end behind the blue shirts. Not sure what the difference is, but the blues seem to outnumber the oranges about three to one. Also note that there’s a different cute redhead in this shot, and there was a couple others in employee shirts there as well, which is about two orders of magnitude more than you’d find in a random sample around these parts. Apparently whoever was hiring here has an eye for redheads. Which demonstrates excellent taste on their part!
And that’s it for pictures, since after getting through the cheerleading section it was pretty cramped in there, so we took off. You get the idea from the pictures above I’m sure, it’s a pretty straightforward oblong retail space with no particularly striking design features evident, at least not from within a seething mass of people with levels of excitement and shared personal space more appropriate to your average mosh pit.
Even just trying to edge our way out the door though, we did stumble across a piece of kit that solves nicely the problem we’d been having of how does one do a group demo of a piece of Cocoa Touch software, which we’re most pleased with; we’ll pop up an insta-review of that for our immediately following post!

Oh, by the way, shirt colours … “Concierges” wear orange; sales force wear aqua; geniuses wear dark blue.

You keep talking about that cute redhead. What I’m more interested in is that sexy looking guy with the brown ponytail. He’s an Apple employee, given the Apple blue shirt he’s wearing. He’s fit looking and looks to have a cute smile!
